MSProjectConference2007 Day4

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Last day was not as good as other days. The key note session was just ok. I just like the following quotes from his presentation:

“Play the Game” Or “Change the way game is played”

Networking with few folks I’ve been talking with over phone or have been communicating over emails for quite sometime was great. That was the greatest thing about this conference.

The third day started with a key note session from Steve Ballmer. During the key note session highlights of MS Project 14 & Project Server 14 (upcoming version in development) from Microsoft Team were great. The new ribbon style for desktop client (as Office 2007 applcation have) & how easy it would be to work from PWA without ActiveX control were great.

Later on there were great sessions. In exhibit hall, MS partners were offering their solutions. In last conference there was only one partner with EPM hosted solution, this year there were three. That shows the growth in hosted MS EPM solution.

MSProjectConference2007 Day2

The second day of MS Project Conference 2007 started the sessions everyone have been waiting for.

The day started with key note session by Mike Angiulo. After an overview of new EPM 2007 solution, few clients presented their case studies of how they have deployed MS Project Server 2007. Especially the presentation by Dr. Amjad Farooq from QinetiQ was amazing. It was simply “IT at its BEST”. It was good to see how they have used Sharepoint Server 2007, Project Server 2007, MS Biztalk, SAP, and Siebel in the solution.

Later on there were different sessions on EPM.

MSProjectConference2007 Day1

I’m excited to be here in Seattle for MS Project Conference 2007. Last year MS Project Conference in January 2006 (check my articles on Project Conference 2006) was great. I’m hoping this year it would be much better than before. I should be able Learn, Connect & Grow as the motto of Project Conference 2007 says.

Looking at the conference agenda, I can see this year more diverse topics will be covered. MS Portfolio Server 2007 will be covered in different sessions as well.

With the acquisition of Portfolio product from UMT and improvising it as MS Project Portfolio Server would boost EPM market share for Microsoft. Even at my workplace for one of our business segment, we beat CA Clarity in one-on-one comparison for price vs. features offered. In today’s market, it is not just product features, but also the cost which a company looks for. I’m hoping MS EPM would be on top of Gartner’s Magic Quadrant. Thanks to Portfolio Server 2007 introduction in to Microsoft EPM suite.
